Ann Toran is a native Manhattanite. While performing as a ballerina with The Croatian National Theater in Zagreb, she suffered a major back injury that threatened her career. Her prescribed therapy was Pilates-based, which helped her recovery.

Though Ann stopped performing over 30 years ago, she remains active in the Pilates studio as both a Master teacher and perpetual student. Along with her husband, chiropractor Errol Toran, she is dedicated to making Pilates Reformer affordable and accessible at their two Pilates Reforming NY locations in Manhattan.

Ann is PMA Certified and continuously advances her education by attending multiple conferences annually and studying with various Pilates educators. She completed the Pilates Master Mentor Program with Pilates elder Lolita San Miguel in 2011, earning the distinction of a Second Generation Pilates teacher. Ann holds certifications from Polestar Pilates (Reformer, Mat, and Studio apparatus) and is a Balanced Body Master Teacher conducting Pilates Teacher Training at the 38th St Pilates Reforming NY studio, an Authorized Balanced Body Training Center.

Before Balanced Body, Ann began her teaching career as an Educator for Polestar Pilates Education.

Dr. Errol Toran, also a Manhattan native, started his chiropractic practice in 1986, providing care to athletes, performers, and office workers across various disciplines.

Pilates has played an essential role in his rehabilitation protocols, enabling superior outcomes. He integrated Pilates principles into patients’ therapy and home programs, helping them maintain healthcare on the move.

Errol observed faster recovery and fewer injuries among his patients, including athletes and dancers. For over two decades, he and Ann have pursued their mission to make Pilates 'Affordable for Every...body!!!'

Their company, Pilates Reforming NY, was founded in 2002 with a revolutionary group Reformer class business model. Dr. Toran is also a Balanced Body Educator, teaching Anatomy to Pilates instructors worldwide.

Our Instructors

Pam is a native New Yorker who recently returned from 10 years in Hong Kong. She discovered Pilates Reforming New York in 2012 while working in business development and sales within the supply chain industry.

In 2018, after a battle with ovarian cancer involving surgeries and chemotherapy, Pam returned to Pilates just one month after her last treatment. Inspired by Pilates’ healing power, she left corporate life to pursue STOTT Pilates instructor training in Hong Kong in 2019.

Pam is an intuitive and positive teacher who uses clear instructions and imagery with a warm smile and humor. She believes Pilates is for every BODY and every ONE. Her classes are dynamic, inclusive, and designed to help clients safely reach their potential. Her favorite class moment is when clients surprise themselves by achieving what they thought they couldn’t. And her favorite ab exercise? Laughing!

A true New Yorker, Robynn tried many exercises before finding Pilates Reforming New York shortly after it opened in 2004. As a marketing executive with a sedentary job, she sought an exercise routine she would enjoy and maintain.

After years of considering becoming an instructor, she finally took the leap. Robynn believes Pilates benefits all ages and bodies by strengthening, toning, and preventing injuries. She’s excited to share Pilates with many clients and values being part of something that promotes strength, flexibility, and health.

Richie grew up in Boston and trained as a dancer from age six. He earned a BPA in Dance from Oklahoma City University and has performed on Broadway, London’s West End, national and European tours, film, TV, and for musical artists.

Introduced to Pilates on Broadway to prevent injury, Richie knew he wanted to teach after training at Reforming NY, Polestar Pilates, and Balanced Body Education. He’s been featured as a Pilates expert on The Dr. Oz Show and teaches body awareness, core strengthening, and dance at Pace University. Richie’s classes are energetic, fun, and focused on technique.

Rania originally planned to become a doctor but changed paths after discovering Pilates during a tech job that involved long hours sitting. Pilates immediately relieved her pain and provided lasting benefits.

Motivated by her experience, she pursued Balanced Body training with Ann Toran. Rania aims to restore health and mobility to everyone’s body through Pilates.

Following careers in intensive care nursing and retail management, Marianne found a love for dance and Pilates in New York.

Passionate about Pilates, which cured her severe recurring back pain, she is dedicated to sharing its benefits. Marianne brings a focused, lively energy to her classes and looks forward to welcoming you.
